First of all, let me just say that in this post + first migration collection I am sharing a side of me that I don't always make very public, but that I recognize as being embarrassingly excessive. I used to have a very different way of life (and buying -- and a disposable income!), and though I don't think I'm really that person any more, I know it's part of me + my past. I hope you won't judge me for it.
Anyway, as I started gathering + organizing treasures for my collections idea, it quickly became apparent what would be the easiest thing to document + offer up quickly. The Bags. Or at least some of them.
I, like (hopefully) many others, have a bit of a condition over bags. This strain of illness is likely related to Shoe Sickness, from which I may or may not also suffer. That's a story for another day, though.
Of course, I only have two arms. And I think it would make me even more uncoordinated than I normally am to be trying to carry one or more bag on each arm. I can alternate bags! Bags have different uses!
Despite my best (or sometimes only wholehearted) efforts to refrain from purchasing too many handbags/purses/satchels/messengers/totes/etc., I still have too many for one person to ever use.
Add to this a penchant for snagging multiples "for my friends" and I may have too many for me + all the people I know to EVER use. So I'm sharing. And AT LEAST 30% of sales from these bags (almost all of which are completely new + unused) will be going to the Red Cross for aid in Japan.
Here's a little sneak peek at this first collection:
It includes a number of very coveted limited-edition pieces from the Liberty of London collection at Target, Marimekko collaborations, a cute handmade tote, a number of Japanese pieces that I hand-carried back from Asia, and more.
I'll finish posting photos + prices in the shop in the next hour or so if you'd like more details. Please join me there at 8pm EST TONIGHT to purchase any of The Bags or other giving items. The collections + giving shopping are open!
