In addition to my normal flurry of spring activity (EEK! TAXES! plus deciding on shows/travel for the upcoming year, and oh yeah, building inventory), I've been busy busy gathering + photographing items for my afore-mentioned attempt to simultaneously shed the excess in my life + collect the funds to do better.
I've decided to tackle this in a few different ways. First, I've added two sections to my shop called "collections" and "giving". I am pledging to keep these parts of my shop stocked with a rotating selection of items, from which I will donate a percentage (at least 30%) of sales to charitable organizations each month.
I'm hoping that the "collections" will be a way for me to share a lot of the lovely things I've gathered over the years on my travels, which I carefully put away to treasure, but now think it's time to take out and enjoy. Some of these things will be handmade, others will just be things that I admired or coveted. These items will be very, very limited, and they may be many years old or recently acquired. For the most part, they will be in like-new or excellent condition, but I promise to be clear + forthright in their descriptions.
As global needs seem particularly dire at this time, I will be adding additional themed collections as quickly as I can in the coming weeks. Additionally, I will be adding donation + gift options in the shop as well. These are fun little things (usually kawaii paper goods + trinkets) that I have decided to give as bonus gifts should you decide to donate a cash amount instead of buying something in the shop.
Finally, the "giving" section will feature one or two handmade migration goods items, from which a portion of sales will also go to charity. Some will be regular migration designs, and others may be special limited-edition or one-off pieces designed specifically for a particular cause.
I'm enjoying the added motivation that helping someone other than myself brings to my days. I hope you'll find something in one of the upcoming collections that strikes you, and that you'll share my tiny effort with others if you're so inclined.
Very first collection preview coming very soon!
